What is ESG due diligence?

An investigation into the environmental, social and governance aspects of a company, usually in the context of an acquisition, investment or financing, alongside the traditional financial and legal due diligence.

Why does ESG matter in an acquisition?

Because pollution, social conflict or weak governance can strongly affect the value of a company. If you know about them in advance, you negotiate better.

Does this replace legal due diligence?

No. ESG due diligence complements the financial, tax and legal due diligence. For the legal and tax aspects, we work together with your lawyers and advisers.
